New Masters Mile at Vitality Westminster Mile

A new Vitality Masters Mile, open to all runners aged 35 or over, has been added to the programme of the Vitality Westminster Mile on Sunday 27 May.

The British Masters Athletics Federation, responsible for the encouragement and organisation of athletics for master athletes in the UK, and London Marathon Events, organisers of the Vitality Westminster Mile, have worked together to create this new event.

There will be one race and the results will be graded into 5-year age groups for men and women. Medals will be awarded to the first three men and women in each age group with silver salvers for the top three men and top three women on overall age-graded performance.

“The Vitality Westminster Mile is for all ages and abilities,” said Hugh Brasher, Event Director for the Vitality Westminster Mile. “We’re delighted that our partnership with BMAF means that we now have a dedicated mile for masters athletes. We look forward to welcoming masters runners to The Mall on 27 May.”

“This race will offer the opportunity for masters athletes to challenge the best runners in the UK in their age group over the classic mile distance,” said Arthur Kimber, Chairman of the BMAF.

Entry to the Vitality Masters Mile is £8 (£1 reduction for Westminster residents) and entries will close at 17:00 on Friday 18 May or when 400 entries have been received.

The programme for the Vitality Westminster Mile also includes family races, school races, the British Age Group Road Mile Championships for runners in the Under 13 to Under 20 age groups and elite races. The Olympians Mile brings together athletes who have competed for Great Britain in any sport in an Olympic Games (summer or winter).
